Grounds Maintenance: Ground Works / Drainage Solutions
Lucas Landscapes will provide you with the best solution for your drainage problem.
Does your garden resemble a swamp in the winter or does the location of your home mean that your garden gets flooded or very damp after bad weather?
Wet winter weather will show how good or bad the natural drainage is. Patches of water on the surface are the most common signs of problems. To check how well the land drains, dig a hole about 600mm (24 inch) deep and 300mm (12 inch) square, then fill it half full with water. Leave it for 24 hours in which time it should empty on well-drained soil.
Lucas Landscapes can fit an effective drainage network under your lawn or garden in order to take away any surface water that lies after heavy rain.
There are several different options, and the type of drainage used, will depend on your situation.
- Stripping off the top 150mm and importing new topsoil.
- Shaping the garden surfaces so that the water flows off into ditches which are created.
- Create a soak away.
- Underground plastic pipes laid into a trench and surrounded by gravel which lead to a soak away or ditch.
